The aim of the scheme
The grant-aiding scheme supports the exchange of artists and productions from Denmark and abroad.
How your application is assessed
In the assessment weight is placed on supporting
- Foreign theatre visiting Denmark (typically financial support for board, lodging and travel in Denmark)
Selected visiting theatre from abroad must, for example, present an alternative to Danish productions and contribute to inspiring both artists and audience as well as increasing awareness of the international drama scene.
In distributing grant aid for the performance of foreign visiting theatre in Denmark the committee must try to meet the needs for visiting drama performance in the whole country. - Danish performing arts visiting abroad (typically financial support for travel)
Danish visiting drama abroad must present Danish performing art and contribute to extend awareness of it - Other international activities such as network-building, participation in conferences and meetings for artists, producers, managers and other key individuals.
In addition the committee lays emphasis on:
- Quality – artistic quality must be central to the art and the artists who are to be introduced internationally
- Interest from outside – a precondition for Danish cultural projects abroad and for support for sending out artists and productions must be relevant interest and demand in the host country.
- Focus – Resources have to be concentrated. There are not sufficient funds to be able to have a presence everywhere.
- Reciprocality – Reciprocality in cultural exchange is important to ensure that Danish art appears in the right places round the world – and it can contribute to developing Danish cultural life.
- Network organisation – the considerable networking potential that lies in Danish cultural institutions must be used to greater advantage.
- Flexibility – There must be flexibility in planning and in the support system.
- Simplicity – There must be easy access to information about opportunities for support and for partners.
- Marketing – Increased priority should be given to marketing aspects of cultural exchange.
- Following up – It is important that art and cultural projects carried out abroad are followed up.
