International funding

The Danish Arts Council and its Committee for Performing Arts provides funding for international cultural exchange. Ongoing support includes:

International performing arts exchanges
The grant scheme supports the exchange of artists and productions from Denmark and abroad and can be applied by individual theatres, productions or individuals from.

Funding for residency programme
Artists and cultural agents living in Danmark who are admitted to a professional residency programme abroad can apply for funding. The Danish Arts Council covers travelling  expenses (up to a maximum of DKK 10.000,-) and offers a monthly working grant of DKK 10.000 . The pool covers the areas of literature, music, performing arts and visual arts.

Research grant
The research grant is aimed primarily at applicants, curators, festival managers, publishers, heads of institutions and other communicators of culture from abroad who already have contacts in Danish cultural life and who are therefore able to arrange meetings and visits with artists and institutions.

Other funding and support possibilities

  • Promotion of Danish performing arts internationally (information and contact facilitating).
  • Hosting and supporting visitor's programmes for international programmers and producers.
  • Support and advice to international partners
  • Key presentation programmes within bilateral and multilateral programmes involving Danish companies and institutions.
  • Initiating and funding the first and second showcase for theatre, performance and dance from Denmark, P@RT.dk in Ocotber 2006 and November 2009.

In addition to the Committee's own programme, funding of specific large-scale focus programmes initiated by the Danish Arts Council is allocated on programme-by-programme basis and can include performing arts.

Funding of Nordic cooperation

  • Nordic Culture Fund (Nordisk Kulturfond).
    The aim of the Fund is to further the cultural cooperation between the Nordic countries Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, as well as the selv-governing areas the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and the Aland Islands.
    The Fund supports cultural cooperation taking place both within and outside of the borders of the Nordic countries.
    The Fund concerns itself with a wide range of art- and culture related areas, involving both professionals and amateurs.
    The Fund supports activities characterized by quality, vision, accessibility, and variety, where both traditional and new ways of working can be developed.
