Danish children's theatre Det Lille Turnéteater perform their version of Hamlet at this years Shakespeare Festival in Bath, England - Shakespeare Unplugged Festival. The Shakespeare Festival focuses on presenting the works of Shakespeare as the audience does not know them; fresh and innovative.
Shaking up the Bath Shakespeare Festival, this new event Unplugs tradition and re-wires the way you see that Bard bloke. Featuring original adaptations of great plays – A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Sony Award winning playwright Hattie Naylor … and sublime variations - Hamlet with four men and two double basses … to brand new commissioned work from the UK streets’ hippest breakdancing choreographer Supple, in his original body-popping duets based on the sonnets … it’s poetry of the mind, body and soul.
Det Lille Turnéteater tranforms Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet into an elegant tour-de-force of minimalist theatre in the Danish theatres acclaimed production, which is performed in English, using two double-bass playser and two actors. A stunning, simple and seductive version. Horatio and Hamlet grow up as friends in the royal castle. But, one day, the king, Hamlet’s father, is murdered. The adult world crashes in on them, and their childhood ends abruptly. Together, they decide they will uncover the king’s murderer and avenge his killing.
